So with just a half-day left of school tomorrow, the OIS decided to throw a party for the graduating Year 6 class. Most might assume this meant some cupcakes and free time in the classrooms with maybe a balloon or two... But nooooo, the party was a full-on bash. Dance videos on the big screen, burgers on the grill, ice cream in giant cups with chocolate bits on top. How could it get any better? Well... It would seem that Karen Rowe, one of the teachers at the OIS and a known instigator of fun, organized a huge waterfight for the kids. Here are some pics from the mayhem. Today was nice out it Oslo, but I didn't have time to wander around. But a number of bees and similar have been at the roses, and the first baby birds have been fledged.
And while thinking of Scotland, there is Stirling Castle. It has a website at: http://www.stirlingcastle.gov.uk/ The history is rich, the castle is awesome, but one of the pictures I came away with that hit a chord is this one... To me, it seems like they no longer have enough raiding hordes to keep their defense positions free of cobwebs. I am quite certain that this is a good thing, so we shall give them a pass on the spider webs.
In Scotland, apparently it is considered having your dog under control if it does not do its business. I've trained a couple dogs, but when they gotta go they gotta go. Might have been more clear to post a sign noting that one should bag such things and dispose of them properly, rather than ban such.
I did not get out and take any pictures today, but had some pictures taken of me. My teeth, specifically. I got copies of the before and after x-rays of my tooth extraction. The pictures make it look so simple, but the tooth came out in pieces, so it was not so fun. But the dentist did a really good job and I can't complain.
Today was a 17km bike trip in the hills north of Oslo for a bunch of students from the Oslo International School. They started and finished at Sognsvann. Sure, sure, I know I said I would give this topic a break and just get back when I had the reptiles and amphibians worked out. But I do have a number of photos of the trails, and thought it might be worthwhile to put up a few of them. These photos were not taken under the best lighting conditions, and were part of a photo survey of all the trails. Thus they are, in most respects, just snapshots taken while walking the trails.
Here are selected photos from the Cacao Trail that follows the Rio Cacao, and then one from the North Loop Trial as it climbs the hill, and final shot of the Upper Loop Trail where the tree cover thins out and it approaches the various habitats on top of the hill (that will have to be another post). |
