I had a chance to fly over the cockpit karst of the Dominican Republic, back around 1999. This is one of the photos. It is an amazing bit of geography and I mapped some caves within it.

Guy, no hijacking here, just more cool info on cockpit karst and the troubles we have navigating in there. Everything looks the same, and oh so easy to get turned around. And there is no way to know if your route is even reasonable, as finding unclimbable dead-end valleys is not uncommon. It is one tough place to find your way, and even if you know your way, it is a tough bit to hike through.
